HOW TO’s WITH THE URBAN RITUELLE TEAM: LIP FACIALS

Our lips deserve some TLC. Just as the right skincare can maximise your makeup, taking a little time to prep your pout can help smooth away any dry skin and create a hydrated canvas for a longer lasting lip look.

Below is our simple 2-step DIY Lip Facial hack. It’s super quick, and promises buffed, hydrated lips!

Step 1: Get Scrubbin’

A good lip scrub will remove any dry skin from your lips and allow any subsequent lip products to melt into your lips. The key with a lip scrub is to apply it gently, as the skin on your lips is very fragile. Too rough and your lips may feel more irritated than exfoliated.

You can make your own lip scrub with two simple ingredients that you can find in just about any pantry: olive oil & brown sugar. Use 1 tsp of brown sugar and slowly drizzle in some olive oil until you get a scrub-like consistency. Add more of each ingredient as needed to make as much scrub as you desire!

Before applying your scrub to your lips, we recommend grabbing a toothbrush, wetting it with warm water and gently buffing the lips. Use small circular motions, this will help to soften any dead skin cells and help your lip scrub effectively remove any dry, flaky skin on your lips. Pat dry with a towel.

Next, apply your scrub by massaging softly onto the lips. Massage for a good minute, or until you feel your lips are well-buffed. You can then wipe clean with a cotton pad, or you can lick off the excess sugar. Yum!

Step 2: Don’t Forget the Lip Balm!

After applying your lip scrub, you need to lock in all that smoothness and hydration. The Flourish Organics Lip Balm in Lemongrass, Lemon Myrtle, Eucalyptus & Grapefruit is an uplifting scented balm, that nourishes lips with its powerful recipe of natural oils, certified organic beeswax, shea butter & vitamin E.

Dab your finger into the pot and apply a layer of lip balm onto your pout in circular motions. This will lock in the moisture plus also get the blood flowing to your lips, which will also temporarily give them a plumper appearance.

…And there you have it. A quick and simple DIY Lip Facial.
