With Mother’s Day on the horizon, we asked our Urban Rituelle Mum’s about their favourite moments in motherhood. What inspires them, their most rewarding moments, and their most treasured memories.

What has been your most rewarding moment as a Mum? This morning I took my
daughters to a Business Chicks event to listen to the Australian of the Year,
Grace Tame tell her story. My teenage girls were amongst 1000 business women &
men. They were so engaged, so open & willing to learn. They were brave &
courageous, listening to her story. They were introduced to CEO’s & business
owners, having conversations with people more than twice their age. My heart
was bursting with joy to see what incredible young women they are both
becoming.
What has surprised you most about Motherhood? How your heart can be filled to the brim with love for
your children but that their stuff left on the kitchen bench can drive you to
complete madness!
What are the best “words of wisdom” about Motherhood that has been passed on to you? Your job as a parent is to help your teenagers
cross over the swaying, rickety suspension bridge held between two strong stone
pillars. They leave childhood & cross the dangerous bridge over a raging
river, into adulthood. There isn’t enough room to walk alongside them. They
have to do it alone. But you are always there, encouraging them & ready to
catch them as they reach the other side.
Any advice for new Mums? Don’t ever compare yourself to others, don’t be hard
on yourself, this is new for both of you. Babies cry, its normal, it usually
means they are hungry, this was a great learning for me! Enjoy every single
moment because it does go so quickly. My mum always told me to not stress about
the mess (but I still do!)

What has been your most rewarding moment as a Mum?
When I see my girls be kind to others and think kindly about others. That always makes me the proudest.
What has surprised you most about Motherhood?
You can be confident about many things in life, but when it comes to being a good Mum, you always question yourself and feel like you’re stuffing up.
What are the best “words of wisdom” about Motherhood that has been passed on to you?
Never go to sleep on an argument.
Any advice for new Mums?
We are all winging it. Every child and family situation is different and no-one has it all figured out. Never be afraid to speak up and ask for help if you need it. You are enough!

Your babies will grow so, so fast. Cherish every moment because it goes by in the blink of an eye.
